Highlands and Islands Airports and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar today (23 April 2007) met to discuss the impact of the current shortage of air traffic control staff at Stornoway Airport.

British Airways franchise partner Loganair Limited, wish to advise customers the following services due to operate on 16^th April will be cancelled at short notice due to the unplanned closure of Stornoway Airport from 1520 hours. This closure is due to Air Traffic Control restrictions.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Stornoway Airport will close to air traffic this afternoon (Monday 16^th April) from 15.20 for the remainder of the day. The airport closure today has been required because of the unavailability of air traffic control staff due to short term illness.
