The company responsible for managing 10 airports in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland has appointed a director of operations.

The importance of air travel to the economy and communities of the Highlands and Islands was underlined by a 13% increase in airport passengers in the region over the past four months.

The new direct air link between Inverness and Benbecula will offer single fares from under £40, inclusive of tax, it was announced today.

Future priorities for the 10 airports operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited have been set out with the launch of the company’s new strategic plan.

A major expansion of car parking provision at the region’s largest airport is set to start later this month.
