Highlanders now have their first ever opportunity to fly direct from Inverness Airport to Venice…just for the day!
Tour operator Transun has laid on a special day trip to the famous Italian city on May 15 and it is expected to be a sell out.
Head of Sales, Trevor Davis, said the company had put on the flight in response to a perceived market demand and as part of its commitment to Inverness and the Highlands.
"We recently launched the first summer series of charter flights from Inverness to the Algarve and that is selling well so we thought a day trip would also be well received," he said.
Alex Johnson, Commercial and Marketing Manager of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd which is partnering Transun in its Inverness operations, said:
"Transun is providing yet another opportunity for Highlanders to enjoy the benefits of overseas breaks through their local airport. It confirms our belief in the potential of Inverness Airport for a range of overseas flights.
"We are sure the Venice trip will be very well received and give Transun further encouragement to extend its holidays and day breaks programme."
Transun is the UK’s leading day breaks operator and enchanting Venice with its maze of canals, bridges and piazzas is one of its favourite destinations with clients all over the country.
Highlanders flying there on May 15 will enjoy such sights as the Piazza San Marco, The Doge’s Palace and the famous Bridge of Sighs.
Optional excursions include a gondola ride and cruise along The Grand Canal.
The Inverness-Venice day break costs £179 per person and excursions are extra.
