This year's increasingly popular Highland Festival runs from May 24 to 8 June. It's a not to be missed experience, a dynamic combination of top-class music, theatre, art and literature in venues set in some of the most spectacular scenery to be found anywhere.
HIAL is supporting the Highland Festival by sponsoring a musical touring event which will take place at different venues over four evenings in June. The event consists of nationally known musicians playing in concert as a tribute to one of the Highlands’ best known teachers of fiddle and bagpipe music, Donald Riddell.
Donald Riddell is indirectly responsible for Wolfestone, Blazin Fiddles, and Eat the Donkey. His celebrated teaching methods often enlivened by stories of his world travels have provided the solid base from which some of the Highlands’ best fiddlers have built careers. "A" grade pupils Duncan Chisholm, Bruce McGregor and Iain MacFarlane play their way through an intimate tribute to a truly great tradition bearer alongside Rory Campbell and Jonny Hardie of the Blind Dogs.
