The Chief Scout of the United Kingdom and leader of a 500,000 strong organisation of young people took off on a tour of the Highlands and Islands from Inverness Airport on Saturday 21 September.
George Purdy will travel to the Western Isles, Orkney, Ross-shire, Caithness and Sutherland on his visit to the North of Scotland which is undertaken every four years.
Mr Purdy started his journey on Saturday when he left Inverness Airport - Highlands and Islands Airports Limited’s flagship gateway to the North and West of Scotland - in a specially chartered Highland Airways’ aircraft.
He was accompanied by the Scouts Association’s Chief Commissioner for Scotland, Andy Matthew on a flight which visited Kirkwall and Wick airports on Saturday, meeting young members of the Scout Association throughout the Highlands and Islands.
During the visit the Chief Scout will hear views on the new scout programme launched earlier this year
HIAL is part funding Mr Purdy’s visit to Scouts across the Highlands and Islands.
