HIAL has appointed leading Scottish PR agency The BIG Partnership to develop its media strategy and handle press relations in line with its corporate commitment to openness and accountability.

BIG will have sole responsibility for Highlands and Islands Airports’ public relations and media activities from 30th September.
Commenting on the appointment of BIG, Bob Macleod, managing director of HIAL said: "We have taken this decision as a result of the changing environment we operate in as a business. As a company we are deeply involved in the communities we serve and also work closely on a partnership basis with public and private sector bodies, local authorities and the Scottish Executive.
"It is therefore important that we communicate our messages and activities on a local, national and international level to a wide range of audiences. To achieve our goals of increasing the services we offer to communities, encouraging the development of new air services, supporting the economic independence and viability of the Highlands and Islands and investing further in our infrastructure it is crucial that we get our message across to audiences ranging from the travelling public to decision makers in the aviation industry.
"The BIG Partnership has already demonstrated to us its ability to deliver results and work proactively on our behalf and we will be working closely with them to ensure we operate as an open and accountable organisation and achieve our goals. With its experience of handling major client accounts and excellent media contacts, BIG is well placed to service our needs in the modern business arena.
"In making this change we wish to place on record our thanks to Michael Fraser Associates which has represented the company for many years."
