Christmas fun will be flying high this month at Inverness Airport with carol singing, festive displays and a local band performing. Travellers and visitors will be able to watch local schools getting into the Christmas spirit while also raising money for local charities of their choice.
The airport will have 60 pupils from Lochardil primary school carol singing on Monday 16 December from 11am. They will be collecting donations for a charity of their choice and adding a festive feel to the terminal and one of its busiest times of year. On 11 December, pupils from Ardersier primary school kicked off the carol singing in the terminal.
Nairn Academy’s Samba band will be joining in the fun by performing on Tuesday 17 December also starting at 11am. The pupils from the academy will be sure to delight as they sing and play various instruments.
The terminal staff have also been involved in making sure the airport has a friendly Christmas atmosphere for all who are going to be travelling in December. Susie Vesty, Information Desk Manager, and her team have designed and put together a wooded grotto with various animals in the terminal. The terminal concourse is also home to a Christmas attraction with Santa and his sleigh created by Mark Clinton, British Airways Customer Services Agent for Inverness Airport. The display has proven so popular that there have already been demands for a reindeer to be added to the exhibition next year!
Sheena Mitchell, Highlands and Islands Airports’ Terminal Manager at Inverness Airport said: "The children, passengers and staff very much enjoy and look forward to what has become an annual event. The fact that the children are raising money for local charities is an added bonus.
"It is great for passengers and visitors who are flying throughout December to be able to experience the festivities and hopefully it puts them in the Christmas spirit!"
