HIAL has announced the appointment of Carole Laignel as
assistant manager at Sumburgh Airport in Shetland.
Ms Laignel, from Dunrossness, has been promoted from her role
as senior administration officer with the airport operator.
Her responsibilities will include the management of facilities
in the terminal building, airport security, airport safety and administration
management. She will also be responsible for developing a benchmark standard of
customer care in the terminal. This is part of the tourism gateway project
developed by the Sumburgh Airport Strategic Partnership formed last year between
HIAL, Shetland Islands Council, Shetland Enterprise and the airport consultative
committee.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Laignel said: "I welcome this
opportunity to further my career with HIAL. I have gained valuable experience
whilst at Sumburgh Airport and look forward to using this to ensure our future
aims and objectives are achieved. I am keen to work with colleagues and
stakeholders to enable growth and quality of service at Sumburgh Airport."
Nigel Flaws, Sumburgh airport manager, added: "Carole is
integral to the running of the airport and has proved that she has the necessary
skills to fulfil the duties of this post. She will play an important role in the
projects being developed through the Sumburgh Airport Strategic Partnership that
was formed between HIAL and local stakeholders last year. I am delighted that
she is furthering her career with us at a time of significant development for
the airport and its partners in Shetland."
