Employees of HIAL are hoping to help the total cash raised for
Children in Need soar higher than ever before.
On Friday, November 21, at 8am, 10 fire fighters from Stornoway
Airport will begin rowing the equivalent distance of Stornoway to the mainland -
80 kilometres - on a rowing machine in the terminal building. Each member of the
team will row in intervals of 10 minutes and they are expecting to complete the
challenge in approximately seven hours.
The Airport fire Service has already begun raising money
through sponsorship and hopes to supplement this with donations from passengers
and members of the public.
Seonaid Clarke, Stornoway Airport Manager, said: "This will be
a really hard challenge for the team but I am sure they will complete it as they
are very determined. All members of staff at the airport will be showing their
support by cheering them on and we hope that members of the public will turn up
to lend a hand as well. Everyone at HIAL wishes them the best of luck."
