HIAL is donating £100 to Campbeltown Pipe Band to help towards the cost of travelling to New York for the world famous Tartan Day Parade.
The band will be parading on April 3 2004. This is the first year that they have participated in the parade, which has been running for six years.
The parade is in honour of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath, which took place on April 6 1320, and was the template for the American Declaration of Independence.
Derrick Lang, Campbeltown Airport Station Manager, said: “We at HIAL, where we can, seek to positively contribute towards the communities that surround the ten airports operated by ourselves. I am sure Campbeltown Pipe Band will do us all proud when they participate in the Tartan Day Parade in New York.”
Charles McMillan, Campbeltown Pipe Band Secretary, said: “Without the assistance of organisations like the HIAL our trip to take part in the New York tartan week would not be possible.”
