Around 1,000 people attended Islay Airport’s annual open day on Sunday 22 August which was opened by Mr Richard MacAire of Forland Estate.
The event is expected to have raised around £2,500 for the Museum of Islay Life and local charities.
Good weather allowed around 20 private aircraft to visit the airport and pleasure flights were operated in an Air Atlantique Dragon Rapide and a Robinson 77 helicopter from Arran Helitours.
A Loganair Saab 340 aircraft, which operates the scheduled flights between Islay and Glasgow , and a Sea King rescue helicopter from HMS Gannet also attended the event while a Yak 50 aircraft performed aerobatics. The Scottish Parachute Team also put on a display.
The event was supported by the emergency services and rescue demonstrations were given by HM Coastguard and Strathclyde Fire Brigade. The RAF also attended with their recruitment vehicle.
Islay Airport Station Manager Andrew Lindsay said: “The open day was a great success and we hope to have raised a good sum of money for local charities.”
