Extended opening hours at Benbecula Airport are set to enable Loganair to introduce more capacity on air links between the island and Glasgow.
Following discussions between HIAL and Loganair the airport’s opening hours will be extended to allow the continuation of double daily rotations between Benbecula and Glasgow on Mondays and Fridays from the end of October when Loganair’s winter schedules start.
This will create more seat capacity on the route at peak travel times.
John Hay, Regional Manager West at HIAL, said: “We have been working with Loganair to ensure the airport and the airline operate to meet the demand from passengers for seats between Glasgow and Benbecula. I am pleased to say that our Board has approved the additional opening hours that will enable Loganair to operate double rotations on the route on Mondays and Fridays.”
Andy Jolly, Loganair’s Director of Commercial Operations, said: “We are pleased that with the assistance of HIAL we are able offer more choice than was available last winter for passengers to and from Benbecula. As well as offering the double daily services on Monday and Friday with improved afternoon timings, we are able to continue the popular Sunday service that started during the summer in addition to retaining ATP capacity on a Saturday.”
