Stornoway Airport is appealing for people bringing vehicles to the airport to respect the disabled parking bays provided.
In recent weeks an increasing number of private and commercial vehicles have been using the designated disabled parking which is provided only for the use of people with registered disabled parking status.
Airport Manager Seonaid Clarke said: “Parking at the airport is free of charge and there is no reason for people without disabled parking badges to use the disabled parking spaces. This causes considerable inconvenience to those who have a genuine reason to make use of the disabled parking bays provided.
“In recent weeks people who have been illegally parked have even chosen to ignore repeated requests from airport staff to move their illegally parked vehicles.
“As a company we are committed to providing facilities for the disabled and we will not accept inconsiderate behaviour that prevents these being put to their proper use. The airport car park is HIAL property and persistent offenders run the risk of having their vehicles removed.”
