Work is about to start at Inverness Airport on a project to treat run-off water before it enters local water courses.
HIAL is carrying out the capital project in order to meet Scottish Environment Protection Agency requirements.
The work, which is scheduled to last 20 weeks, is due to commence on 14 February and will cost HIAL more than £1 million.
The contract has been awarded to MacInnes Brothers and consultancy services for the design of the micro-biological water treatment system have been provided by Ove Arup.
James Walton, Inverness Airport Manager, said: “This significant capital project will provide a system for the treatment of run-off water from the airfield. The work will be timetabled to ensure that there is no disruption to air services or the operation of the runway.”
