Private pilots took the opportunity to fly into what is believed to be Europe's only beach landing strip that supports scheduled flights last week.
Seven light aircraft flew into Barra Airport during its three-day annual fly-in at the end of the week.
The event, organised by HIAL and the Scottish Aero Club, included a dinner and ceilidh on the island for the 21 visitors. Most of the visiting aircraft were from Perth Flying Club.
Amongst the visiting pilots was 86-year-old John Moffatt who flew Swordfish aircraft during World War Two and dropped a torpedo against the German battleship Bismarck. He flew into Barra in his Piper Colt aircraft.
Michael Galbraith, HIAL Station Manager, said: "Barra's world famous beach runway provided a unique flying experience for the visiting pilots and passengers while the good weather provided excellent flying conditions.
"This was one of the best fly-ins we have staged at the airport and I would like to pass on my thanks to everyone who has assisted in its organisations."
