Highland air travellers will benefit from additional flights and larger aircraft from today (Tuesday 7 June) as Eastern Airways introduces enhancements to its North of Scotland schedules.
The airline has introduced an additional return flight between Wick and Aberdeen and is operating larger Jetstream 41 aircraft on its routes from Inverness to Birmingham and Manchester.
Caithness travellers will now have access to four return services between Wick and Aberdeen Monday to Friday.
A 29-seat J41 aircraft is operating on the morning and evening flights between Inverness and Manchester and the lunchtime flight to Birmingham. This will create more capacity on the routes and offer enhanced comfort in comparison to the 18-seat J31 aircraft previously used on the three daily returns from Inverness to both Birmingham and Manchester. The lunchtime Manchester flight and morning and evening Birmingham flights will continue to be operated with J31 aircraft under the new schedules.
Inglis Lyon, Managing Director of HIAL, said: “Eastern Airways is an established operator in the region and I am delighted that it continues to develop its services for Highland travellers.
“The fourth flight at Wick gives people a wide range of opportunities to access onward connections through Aberdeen while the additional capacity from Inverness on cross-border services from Inverness will help to increase the numbers of passengers using these busy routes. This is good news for the region and will benefit people travelling to and from the Highlands for business and leisure,” said Mr Lyon.
