Inverness Airport handled an unusual international flight on Saturday afternoon when members of the Royal Irish Regiment flew in on a RAF military transport from Gibraltar.
The RAF C130 aircraft was transporting 50 members of the regiment, currently stationed at Fort George, home from a three-week spell of duties in Gibraltar.
The flight, which landed at 3pm routed from Gibraltar via RAF Lyneham before arriving at Inverness.
Inverness Airport manager James Walton said: “This is the first military transport of personnel anyone can remember coming into Inverness for a long time but we were delighted to accommodate the flight from Gibraltar.
“While we regularly handle private and executive charter aircraft from international destinations it is a much rarer sight to see a military transport flight coming in here.”
