Flybe, one of Europe’s leading low-cost airlines, today begins operating flights on the recently announced Inverness to Belfast route. Fares start at £29.99 one way including taxes and charges and the service runs four times a week.
The new route was launched in September following the news that easyJet was withdrawing the route from its network. Flybe responded quickly to the news, lessening the impact on Highland travellers by providing a regular, low cost route straight into the heart of Northern Ireland.
Flights from Inverness to Belfast commence 16th December with fares from £24.99 one way including taxes and charges, running throughout the winter season.
The new route is an example of how the airline is investing in new bases as it continues its expansion across Europe. The new base at Inverness supports Flybe’s steady growth in passenger numbers and will make a significant impact on regional air travel across the UK.
Belfast is the second largest city in Ireland and the perfect destination for a weekend break. The shopping area around Donegall Square is a hive of activity with a wide range of shops and boutiques plus many restaurants. If culture is more your thing then the Golden Mile around the famous Queen’s University is packed with galleries and museums, including icons such as City Hall and the Grand Opera House.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe comments: “With the launch of a new base and the new service to Belfast we’re keeping access to the fashionable capital city open to the people of Inverness, as well as showing our continued commitment to bringing travel choice to the regions. The decision by easyJet to cancel the route to Belfast left many Scottish travellers disappointed so we’re delighted to be able to provide them with a new, convenient low cost travel option throughout the winter season. ”
Inglis Lyon, Managing Director of Highlands and Islands Airports Limited said: “We are delighted to see Flybe launch its first service at Inverness. The restoration of a popular link to Northern Ireland is good news for the Highlands and we are sure that Flybe’s fares will be attractive to people flying to and from the region.”
