Highland holidaymakers will be able to fly direct to the Channel Island of Jersey from Inverness Airport in summer 2008, it was announced today.
C. I. Travel Holdings Ltd will be offering a weekly service to Jersey aboard a VLM Fokker 50 aircraft. The firm has been offering holidays to Jersey for more than 20 years.
Flights will start on 28 June 2008 with the last departure to Jersey flying from Inverness on 13 September.
Jersey is the largest and most southerly of the Channel Islands, only nine miles by five and nestled in the sparkling bay of St. Malo. Clear water and beaches surround some 45 miles of coastline – Jersey’s greatest natural treasure. Wide sandy bays in the south are perfect for water sports while dramatic cliffs in the north offer spectacular scenery and stunning vistas. With a choice of 190 restaurants and an abundance of talented chefs Jersey also has a reputation as being the island of good food. There is also plenty of nightlife and shopping in the island’s capital, St Helier, so all in all an ideal holiday destination for everyone.
Peter Drew, managing director of C. I. Travel Holdings Ltd, said: “We’re delighted that we will be making it possible for the people of the Highlands to enjoy a holiday in one of the most unspoiled European holiday destinations which offers a unique blend of British and French influences.”
