Highlands and Islands Airports is in discussions with a number of airlines regarding new routes at Dundee Airport, it confirmed today.
Following the failure of Flywhoosh’s operations at the airport in December, HIAL has approached several airlines regarding route development at the airport.
Inglis Lyon, managing director of HIAL said: “Discussions are ongoing with airlines regarding new operators for both the Belfast and Birmingham routes formally operated by Flywhoosh and new services at Dundee.
“We believe that there is potential for the development of air links at Dundee and are actively pursuing these.
“Clearly the success of these discussions will depend upon the airlines own plans and the availability of aircraft capacity within their fleets but we hope that our work will bear fruit this year.”
