Highlands and Islands Airports Limited today welcomed the appointment of two new non-executive directors to its Board while paying tribute to two retiring non-execs.
Scottish Ministers have confirmed the appointments of Dr Michael Cantlay and Mr Andrew Castell with effect from 1 March this year.
Grenville Johnston and Shona Maclennan will step down from the Board after seven years of service at the end of February.
David Sutherland, chairman of HIAL said: “We look forward to Mr Castell and Dr Cantlay bringing their experience to bear in our work at what is an exciting time of development for the business.
“Continuing the expansion of the region’s air network with our airline partners, the development of our own operations and commercial initiatives such as Inverness Airport Business Park are but some of the examples of work in progress at HIAL.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to mark the considerable contributions that Grenville and Shona have made to HIAL over the past seven years. Our thanks go to them for their hard work and support,” said Mr Sutherland.
Michael Cantlay was formerly chairman and managing director of Highland dress manufacturer and retailer Hector Russell. Today his principle UK business is Inverness-shire based William Glen Ltd which owns and operates Highland dress businesses in Toronto, Canada and San Francisco, USA. He is convener to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority and is chair of the Board of Management to Forth Valley College. He was formerly chair of Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley and deputy chair of VisitScotland. Dr Cantlay lives in Perthshire.
Andrew Castell is a Chartered Accountant and has a background in financial services, having worked in investment banking and the insurance industry. He was formerly group finance director of CBS Insurance Holdings PLC and Goshawk Insurance Holdings PLC. He has particular experience of corporate finance and corporate restructuring. He lives in Inverness-shire.
