Flight Times Announced for Dundee - Belfast Flights
13 March 2008

Loganair, has today (Thursday, March 13) announced that tickets are on sale for its first scheduled flights from Dundee to Belfast City airport.

Scotland’s airline is now selling tickets after being granted slot approval by the Northern Irish airport late last night. The flights will begin operating as planned on May 21, at the same time that the new route from Dundee to Birmingham also gets underway.

Operating under the Flybe brand as part of a new franchise deal, Loganair will introduce one return flight from Dundee to Belfast City each weekday – flying in the morning – as well as a return afternoon flight on Sunday.

Loganair will also operate three return flights between Dundee and Birmingham each weekday – flying in the morning, mid-afternoon and evening – as well as a return evening flight on Sunday.

Today’s announcement follows a period of significant planning and is a direct response to customer demands following the high-profile suspension of FlyWhoosh flights from the city in December last year.

Peter Tierney, Chief Executive of Loganair, said: “After a frustrating delay, we are delighted to be able to announce that we have a confirmed slot at Belfast City Airport and are now selling tickets for this route.

“We were always committed to introducing the Belfast flights on May 21 at the same time as the Birmingham route and are now looking forward to delivering the first-class service that customers have come to expect from Loganair.”

He added: “Northern Ireland and the Midlands are important markets for Loganair and having listened to our customers, we are creating a new base in Dundee. Since the Birmingham tickets went on sale on Monday, they have been selling very well indeed and we look forward to the Belfast route proving equally popular.”

Both routes are expected to contribute significantly to the local economy as they will provide quick, easy, reliable transport for residents, students, tourists and business travellers between Dundee, Birmingham and Belfast.

Loganair’s two new routes will operate under the Flybe banner ahead of the franchise arrangement between the two companies, which starts on October 25.
