The Selection Process
Once the closing date for each post has passed, all applications will be ‘shortlisted' against the Person Specification. Therefore, it's important to clearly state on your application form how you meet the Person Specification. The applicants who have best demonstrated how they match the Person Specification will then be invited to interview. For some posts, we may also ask interview candidates to undertake aptitude tests such as numerical tests, psychometric tests or the delivery of a presentation. Where this is the case, candidates will be made aware of this in advance of the interview.
Before starting work for us, there are a number of pre-employment checks that we must do which includes a medical and reference checks. For security reasons, you may need to account for your whereabouts for the last 5 years and we will take up references from all your employers during that period. If there are any gaps in your employment, you will need to nominate a referee who can verify your activities. For Security positions within AMSL, we undertake more detailed security screening for all appointed candidates. Any appointment is subject to satisfactory references.
Some posts may also require a Disclosure Check and/or Counter Terrorist Check.
Data Protection Act
Only staff involved in the selection process will have access to the information contained on your application form. All the details will be held in the strictest confidence and held on the Human Resources computer system. All information held will comply with the Data Protection Act 1988.
