ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

At Inverness Airport we work hard to make our facilities as comprehensive and comfortable for all our customers. Within the terminal we have designed our access and facilities with disabled passengers in mind.

Car Parking

Car park spaces designed for use by customers with a disability are available at the closest point to the terminal building within the two short stay car parks and in the long stay facility which is located approx 800 metres from the terminal.

Blue Badge holders requiring to park on a long stay basis may do so in the short stay car park and attract the same rate as would have been applied if they had parked in the long stay facility. Blue Badge holders should take their badge and parking ticket to the airport information desk for payment and validation.  Please click here for details of current tariffs.

Pre-booking discount is available if you book online.

Assistance buttons are provided at the barriers and pay stations.

All customers are asked to note that due to increased security measures there are no drop down facilities in front of the terminal.

Accessibility

Dropped kerbs and pavements link the car park to the terminal.

Access to the terminal building is via revolving doors, which can be slowed down by use of a press button. There are in addition 4 ‘accessible’ doors, ideal for customers with an assistance dog.

All public facilities are located on the ground floor and are wheelchair friendly.

Wheelchairs

Wheelchairs are provided free of charge for use throughout the terminal – please ask.

Induction Loop

The airport Information Desk, Check In and Sales Desks are all fitted with Induction Loop systems.

Toilet Facilities

Unisex wheelchair accessible toilet facilities are available in the Concourse, Departure Lounge and Arrivals Hall.

First Aid Room

A dedicated first aid room is available for customers needing a little privacy for medical treatment. Please contact the Information Desk to access the First Aid Room.

All Information Desk staff are trained in basic first aid.

Telephones

Public telephones with easy access for wheelchair users are available in the terminal concourse and Departure Lounge.

Assistance Dogs

We welcome assistance dogs in the terminal building. For comprehensive advice about flying with an assistance dog, visit www.guidedogs.org.uk

Security

All passengers must go through the security check area before entering the departure lounge and as a result you may be asked to undergo a search. This is a process prescribed by the Department for Transport and will be undertaken by hand. This process applies equally to cabin baggage and personal items and therefore should you have any special medical requirements or be in possession of medical equipment, you should notify the security personnel prior to this process. If required and on request, a private search area can be used to protect your privacy.

Departure Lounge

Priority seating is available at each departure gate. These seats are equipped with arms on both sides. Space is also provided for wheelchairs

Boarding Assistance

Boarding assistance is currently provided by your airline. It is important to notify them of the help you are likely to need at the time of booking and to confirm any special assistance when you check in.

Ambu-lift

Accessibility to and from the aircraft for passengers with impaired mobility, is normally by a covered, ambu-lift vehicle. In certain circumstances when the vehicle is unavailable or the aircraft is not suitable to accept the vehicle it may be necessary to use a stair climbing chair or undertake a manual lift.

Public Transport Links

The airport is served by modern wheelchair accessible buses.

The dedicated taxi firm, Central Highland Taxis, are equipped with a number of vehicles suitable for wheelchair access. A taxi co-ordinator is also available at the airport and will provide assistance on request. In the event that no-one is available the driver will provide assistance. All drivers have Scottish Criminal Records checks to ensure passenger safety at all times.

On-airport car hire companies, Avis & Hertz, are able to provide on request automatic vehicles and hand controls.

Further information can be obtained from Central Highland Taxis on 01463 222222 or www.highlandtaxis.co.uk
