Annual report highlights top flight performance from HIAL
Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL), the company responsible for operating 11 of Scotland’s regional airports, welcomed more passengers in
2014/15 than ever as a result of new routes and expansion on existing services.
HIAL’s Annual Report and Accounts show the company, which is owned by Scottish Ministers and publicly subsidised, handled more than 1.4 million
passengers in the twelve months to March 2015, representing an increase of 64,110 (+4.7%) on the previous financial year.
During the period, new flights were launched from Inverness to Dublin, Dundee to London Stansted and Sumburgh to Bergen. Funding for two new Twin Otter aircraft was also provided. The new aircraft are now in operation, serving the Glasgow to Barra, Campbeltown and Tiree routes.
