Update One: Friday 21st April 2023
In advance of the Runway Resurfacing Project at Islay Airport, we will be undertaking works to improve road access to the Big Strand, week commencing 24 April.
During this time, we are asking visitors that wish to access the beach to park their cars near the beach rather than use the car parking at the airport. This is to allow the contractors to safely manage the flow of traffic.
Preparation work is underway for the resurfacing work, and we are expecting delivery of plant machinery and equipment over the coming few weeks via chartered shipping. This will arrive at Port Ellen and be transported to the Airport via road.
We are working hard to minimise any disruptions caused by the work, and thank you for your patience during this time.
