Public consultation on HIAL’s Gaelic Language Plan 2026-2031

We are launching our public consultation on the Plan

As required under the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, we have prepared our third Gaelic Language Plan. This version will run from 2026 to 2031 and will build on our progress so far. Our focus will be on our communities where over 20% of people have some Gaelic language skills, in order to create the most impact.

We are launching our public consultation on the Plan, and responses will inform its development before it is formally submitted to Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

You are invited to read the Plan here, and to send any suggestions or feedback to communications@hial.co.uk by 4 October.
