Two new airport managers have been appointed by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL).
Jordan Carberry has taken up the role at Stornoway Airport with Duncan Thompson joining at Sumburgh Airport, following the retirement of the previous airport managers Willie Mutch and Susan Mail, respectively.
Jordan held a number of operational and management roles over the past 14 years within Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's Education, Skills & Children's Services Department. In his most recent role as Senior Resources Officer, he was responsible for mainstream and Additional Support Needs school transport services, department finances, welfare grants, department and school support services across the Western Isles.
Duncan worked at Scatsa Airport from 2000 until its closure in 2020, starting as a Fire Fighter, he progressed through the ranks to Senior Airport Fire Officer / Airside Operations Manager. He also worked as part of the Fire Service at Sumburgh Airport for seven months following Scatsta Airport’s closure before joining Shetland Islands Council as a Health & Safety Advisor. His career also included four years as Tingwall Airport Manager.
