More than 160 people took part in Inverness Airport’s midnight 5k, helping raise an incredible £46,875 for cancer support across the Highlands, Islands and Moray.
Held on Saturday 22 August, Run the Runway saw participants run, walk and scoot the 5k along the runway, guided by the runway lights. The fundraising total was boosted by £10,000 in match funding from Heather’s Heroes, helping the money raised go even further.
Dan Mason, Inverness Airport Manager, said: “Run the Runway is a great event to be part of, and there was a real buzz around the airport on the night. Seeing the runway lit up as more than 160 participants made their way around the 5k created a fantastic atmosphere, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved.
It was also great to see the wider community getting behind the event, from the volunteers and marshals to those supporting participants on the night. Raising this huge donation for Maggie’s Highlands is a fantastic result and we’re pleased to have played our part in making the event happen.”
