Campbeltown Airport recently hosted a group from 1000 Voices, a charity which supports people over the age of 65. The charity’s aim is to reduce social isolation and loneliness by arranging a wide range of events and activities.
Station Manager John Lamont gave the 1000 Voices group the full airport tour – including the Airport Fire Service offices – plus a tour of the old airbase which is outwith the area currently leased by HIAL. Five of the group were also delighted to be able to venture up the Air Traffic Control Tower.
Michele Prout, 1000 Voices Project Coordinator, said: “A massive thank you to John for today. The buzz on the bus coming back was fantastic – everyone had a great time and found it so interesting.”
Here at HIAL, we are always happy to give groups a tour of our airports, and can also provide this “behind the scenes” service to individuals who may need some additional support when travelling. All visits must be arranged beforehand – please contact your local airport directly to discuss your visit.
