A massive well done to the 200+ walkers and runners that took part in the Maggie’s Highlands ‘Run The Runway’ 2019. Collectively, they raised a staggering £49,000 for the charity!
The annual event, now in its third year, is hosted at Inverness Airport and sees participants running the length of the runways to the 5K finish line (in the rain and dark may we add!). A DJ and personal trainer on the night set the mood and all the fancy dress costumes were a delight to see! Not only did participants get a medal once they crossed the line, but a warm cup of tea/coffee and a hot bacon roll were waiting too, provided by our very own Stag & Thistle.
Six colleagues from Inverness Airport and Head Office also took part (plus two friends), raising nearly £2,000. Gail Mackay (pictured above in the pink top), an admin officer at the airport, said: “It was a brilliant night, well organised by Maggie’s and HIAL. Many participants were in fancy dress, with the ages ranging from a toddler in a pushchair to an 85 year old!”
If you missed out on the opportunity to get involved this year, don’t worry, as Maggie’s Highlands have announced a date for 2020! We’re excited to say that on Saturday 22nd August, we’ll be welcoming everyone back to the airport. Maggie’s have even opened up an extra 50 places for next year so more people can get involved in raising money for a great local charity!
You’ll be able to sign up from March 2020, but in the meantime, if you’d like to be kept up to date with Run The Runway news, drop Maggie’s Highlands an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
