Hear from the team
Playing its own part in the future of sustainable aviation, Kirkwall Airport is home to the Sustainable Aviation Test Environment (SATE) project, the UK’s first operationally based, low-carbon aviation test centre.
SATE has provided opportunities for the team at the airport to learn valuable skills to work with new technologies involving hybrid and electric flights. However, SATE is only part of what is involved in the day-to-day operations of the airport.
The team work as one to provide vital connectivity to the Orkney Islands. From emergency health care, to providing a postal service and connectivity to help businesses grow and develop, a lot happens in one day at the airport.
