Security Search FAQs: What to expect at Dundee Airport

What to expect when taking hold baggage

Your hold baggage will be screened by X-ray, in line with UK regulatory requirements. The X-ray equipment meets the regulatory standards for the size of our airport. Your baggage may also be searched by hand and swabbed for the detection of explosives by one of our highly trained security operatives.

Your baggage may be selected for hand checking for one of two reasons:

  • the X-ray operator believes a prohibited or dangerous item is present; or
  • random selection testing, which we are required to undertake to meet UK regulatory requirements due to the X-ray equipment we have in operation at our airport.

If your bag is selected, your name will be called over loudspeaker and you should make yourself known to security. You will then be taken to the hold baggage search room.
