Inverness Airport Airspace Change - Update August 2023

HIAL progresses Inverness Airspace Change Proposal transition plan

Significant strides are being taken in the ongoing development of the Inverness Airspace Change Proposal (Inverness ACP) transition plan. As part of our commitment to enhancing aviation safety, operational efficiency, and communication with stakeholders, Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) is diligently preparing for the potential implementation of the Inverness ACP, also known as the Inverness Airspace Change Proposal in line with the relevant Civil Aviation Publication, CAP 725.

In collaboration with aviation authorities and stakeholders, HIAL has been working meticulously on crafting a comprehensive transition plan that will facilitate the seamless adoption of controlled airspace and its associated instrument flight procedures. This proactive approach ensures that if a decision is received from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in favour of the Inverness ACP, HIAL will be fully prepared to implement the proposed changes effectively and efficiently.

The core components of the transition plan include robust communication strategies aimed at keeping all stakeholders well-informed about the changes and implications brought about by the proposal. HIAL is committed to maintaining the safety of the transition process, and training programs are being devised to ensure that all staff members are well-equipped and proficient in managing the new airspace and the associated procedures.

HIAL acknowledges the significance of a collective understanding and engagement among all parties involved to achieve a positive transition. One of the key objectives of the transition plan is to support local aviation stakeholders in understanding the alterations that the proposed changes would introduce to the airspace surrounding Inverness.

Inverness Airport is collaborating with its Approved Procedure Design Organisations (APDOs) and the CAA Instrument Flight Procedure Department to finalise the intricate details of the proposed instrument flight procedures, new arrival transitions, and standard instrument departures. The aim is to create robust and precise procedures that uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

HIAL's dedication to the successful execution of the Inverness ACP transition plan reflects our commitment to enhancing air travel within the region. By proactively addressing potential changes and challenges, Inverness Airport seeks to set a benchmark for responsible and efficient aviation development.
