Gary Johnstone, Deputy Head of Fire and Airside Operations, recently completed his 14th international volunteering mission with the International Fire & Rescue Association.
He visited Mexico to deliver training, hand over donated fire appliances and support local fire services.
The charity, founded in 2002, has sent 124 vehicles and 89 containers of equipment worldwide. During this depolyment, Gary trained teams on Incident Command, Firefighter Welfare, Breathing Apparatus techniques, and the use of new fire engines. He also reviewed local services for future support.
Gary said, “It’s inspiring to see the dedication of local emergency services. This trip was a great opportunity to share knowledge and provide support where it’s most needed.”
