Board of Directors
HIAL’s Board of Directors challenges the Senior Management Team on its strategy for the business and provides guidance and support on both aviation and non-aviation issues.
The Board reviews safety and security, risk management, corporate governance, finance, business and commercial strategy and human resources. Directors operate under the HIAL Board Members Code of Conduct, based on the Model Code produced by the Standards Commission of Scotland, together with recognition of other published corporate governance guidelines. Board members are appointed by the Scottish Government.

Lorna Jack, Chair
A chartered accountant and a graduate of Aberdeen University, Lorna has served on the Board as non-executive director since March 2014.
She chaired its audit committee for over three years, becoming Interim Chair in 2017, before being appointed Chair of the Board in 2019.
Lorna is the Vice Chair of the Scottish Funding Council Board and the Chair of its Finance Committee.
Lorna previously held the position of chief executive for the Law Society of Scotland for 13 years until she stepped down in January 2022. The Law Society Scotland is the professional body for Scottish solicitors. She was also previously a Trustee and Treasurer of the McConnell International Foundation.
Inglis Lyon, Managing Director
Aberdeen-born Inglis was previously the managing director of Stagecoach East and became HIAL’s managing director in May 2005.
Inglis completed an apprenticeship with a garage in Inverness before gaining an honours degree in transport technology from Belfast’s University of Ulster.
He joined Stagecoach, where he held a variety of management positions, initially in depot management in Chorley, Bolton and Carlisle, before moving into senior management. He held the posts of operations director in Cumbria and Managing Director of Stagecoach divisions throughout England and also in Africa.
Johanna Wallace, Finance and Commercial Director
Johanna joined HIAL in November 2020. Originally from Inverness-shire, Johanna graduated with an honours degree in maths from the University of Aberdeen and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2001 whilst working for EY in Glasgow.
She worked as a business auditor for Cadbury, based in Birmingham, a role which gave her the opportunity for extensive international travel. She held finance leadership roles across various sectors including manufacturing, brewing and oil and gas.
After eight years in the Midlands, she returned to Scotland in 2010 and was Operations Finance Controller at FMC Technologies and commercial finance controller for AG Barr before joining Vets Now as finance director in 2015.
Eric Hollanders, Non-Executive Director
Eric’s most recent position was CEO of a Dutch Bank: setting strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, setting budgets and delivering against them, and ensuring relevant structure and governance was in place.
He joined the board and audit committee of Muirhouse Housing Association and the board of an Amsterdam-based fintech company, adding non-executive roles to his experience.
Eric is enrolled in the consulting and coaching for change executive management programme at Oxford University/HEC in Paris. Based around change management, leadership and large transformations it provides participants with skills for change towards success and sustainability.
Christopher Holliday, Non-Executive Director
Christopher has over 30 years’ experience in the regional aviation industry, working for airlines, aircraft manufacturers and an industry association.
This includes 14 years with regional airlines operating in or to Scotland, holding senior positions in commercial and operational roles including accountable manager and nominated post holder positions for flight and ground operations and continued airworthiness management.
Christopher applies his broad experience to his work in aviation consultancy and in his roles as a non-executive director with tech firm Cranfield Aerospace Solutions and Aurigny Air Services, a regional airline in the Channel Islands.
His particular interest is in safety, regional air services that provide vital transport links for remote communities and in new technologies to make services as economic, reliable and sustainable as possible.
Jim McLaughlin, Non-Executive Director
Jim’s lives in Linlithgow and was previously based in West Cumbria as HR director for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
He has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction, power generation and energy supply industries, including roles as Director of Learning for Scottish Power and International HR Director for PacifiCorp, based in the USA.
Jim has a good track record at Board level, most recently as Chair of Energus and as a non-executive Director of Direct Rail Services. He also has significant experience as a pension scheme trustee. A chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development, Jim has an MBA.
Loraine Strachan, Non-Executive Director
A chartered accountant, Loraine completed her training with Ernst & Young in South Africa. Her career has progressed from audit and management accounting roles through to finance and HR director roles. She was the finance manager at the logistics arm of Capespan in South Africa in her earlier career, and vice president finance and HR at Menzies Aviation (part of John Menzies plc) for Africa and the Middle East. She previously served as trustee and chair of the finance committee for Impact Arts and is a finance and HR consultant in the private and public sectors.
Isabel Todenhoefer, Non-Executive Director
Isabel is a finance and mergers and acquisitions expert with more than 12 years of experience in the aviation industry, where she worked as Head of M&A Deutsche Lufthansa AG in Frankfurt.
After leaving Lufthansa she co-founded the real estate financing platform Everge Financing Sl based in Madrid. She holds an MBA from Instead, one of the world’s leading graduate business schools.
Greg Colgan, Non-Executive Director, Dundee Airport Limited Board
Greg is chief executive of Dundee City Council. He served as the local executive director of corporate Service for three years prior to taking the helm, a post with a wide-ranging remit including the overall strategic and operational responsibility for corporate finance, customer services & IT, HR & business support, and democratic and legal services.
Before that Greg held other positions within the local authority including head of customer services and IT, head of corporate debt and welfare reform and finance and corporate services manager (housing).
Having trained as an accountant with a global manufacturing and engineering organisation, Greg is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Housing and also the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE).
