Christopher Holliday - HIAL Chair

Chris took up the role of Chair of HIAL on 1 February 2026 after serving as a Non-Executive Director for the organisation since March 2020 and Chair of the HIAL Board’s Safety, Security and Environment Committee.

He has over 40 years of experience in the regional aviation industry, including over 20 years in senior executive and non-executive roles regional airlines operating in and to Scotland and other island communities.

This includes working for airlines, aircraft manufacturers and an industry association. His interests in the field of aviation include safety and the provision of vital air links for remote communities. Looking ahead, Chris recognises the important role of new technologies that will make the aviation industry more economic, reliable and sustainable.

During his career, Chris held senior positions in both commercial and operational roles. 

He has worked as an accountable manager and nominated post holder within flight and ground operations and continued airworthiness management. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering from Bristol University.

Chris applies his broad background to his aviation consultancy work.

His board leadership experience includes current roles as Vice Chair of the Isle of Man Airport Board and Vice Chair of the Light Aircraft Association, and he presently serves as a Trustee of the Fresson Trust.
